Master the Art of Creating Effective Vision Boards with These Essential Tips – VISIYA

Updated: Nov 7

A vision board is a physical or digital tool used for visualization, where specific images or words representing your aspirations and goals are displayed together to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation. When you visualize your goals, you activate your imagination and tap into the power of your subconscious mind. This process allows you to align your thoughts, emotions, and actions with your desired outcomes.  One of the most overlooked actions when crafting a dream board is the phrasing/forming of your desires. Wrongly worded goals might lead to frustrations and disappointment.

In this article, we will explore some phrasing tips to follow to make your vision board as effective as possible.

9 Essential Tips For Creating Effective Vision Boards

1. If you want to create an effective vision board, take time to truly think about the phrasing of your desires and goals. Start by creating a comprehensive list that spans your smallest wishes to your most ambitious dreams. It's critical to be honest and authentic, ensuring your desires resonate with your heart's truth. Once you've got your list, identify the most significant desires that you plan to achieve within the next 1-3 years.

2. When it comes to wording your goals, always phrase them positively and avoid negations. For instance, use “I am slender” instead of “I'm not overweight”. Your desires should be transparent, tangible, and most importantly—doable.

3. When defining your desires, specificity is key. Your desires must be clear, measurable, achievable and realistic. Saying “I am driving a Tesla en route to Switzerland” carries far more weight than a generic “I want a car”. Steer clear of ambiguity and generalizations such as, “I made plenty of money this year”. Besides lacking precision, such statements can also invite unclear interpretations, like receiving an inheritance from a deceased relative. To avoid this, be specific, like: “I have sufficient funds to go on my dream trip”.

4. As an effective technique, phrase your desires as if they've already occurred. Instead of writing “I’ll meet my soulmate this year”, say “I met the love of my life this year”.

5. Remember, a vision board carries energy, so never wish harm or misfortune for people you don’t like. Negative wishes can swing back with a vengeance, so focus only on positive desires.

6. Once you've narrowed down your desires, select images that resonate with them. If you dream to own a car, select a picture of a specific model in your desired color. If a new job is on your wish-list, consider adding a logo of your new employed. If you're hoping for a chic loft house, make sure it's visible in your chosen picture.

7. Remember, the look and feel of your visuals can inadvertently affect the outcome of your wishes. Choose light, uplifting images and consider interacting elements like the weather in the photos.

8. Finally, as you start filling out the vision board with pictures, ensure each life area has an associated image. The key is to balance pictures and affirmations, ensuring that your vision board isn't text-dense.
