Vision Board Party Ideas: A Night With Friends, From Snacks to Sharing
A vision board party is a get-together where friends make their vision boards side by side: magazines, scissors, glue, music and good snacks. Some call it a vision board night or workshop. Most happen between Christmas and the end of January.
This page covers what makes the evening work: snacks that won't ruin the magazines, a playlist, what to wear and a shopping list for hosts. Plus where to find a party near you, what to watch out for, and how to get your board onto your phone afterwards.

- 3–4 hours
- a relaxed evening or weekend afternoon
- 4–8 guests
- so everyone gets space at the table
- Dec – Jan
- the classic season
- New moon
- a nice date if you like rituals
Why together
Why make your vision boards together, on paper?
Cutting and gluing slows you down in a good way. You choose pictures with your hands instead of your thumb. And your friends ask the questions you'd skip on your own, like "Why that one?"
Slower choices
An hour of flipping through magazines shows you what you keep reaching for.
Saying it out loud
Tell the group one wish and it starts to feel real.
A shared memory
In June you'll look at your board and remember the evening.

The morning after
Paper tonight, phone tomorrow: digitize your vision board
A paper board tends to end up in a drawer or behind a door. Take a photo of it the next morning and add it to VISIYA, and you'll see it every day.
Photograph your board in daylight, straight from above.
Add it in the app along with the single cut-outs you love most, sorted by area of life. Made yours with the "This Year I Will" printable? The same template is free in the app.
Keep it in view as your lock screen or a home screen widget.

Food & drinks
Vision board party snacks that won't ruin the magazines
Pick food you can eat with clean fingers. Greasy chips and buttery popcorn stain the pages, and glue won't stick to greasy paper.

Fine at the craft table
- Grapes, berries, fruit skewers
- Veggie sticks with a small bowl of dip
- Pretzels, rice crackers
- Mini sandwiches on toothpicks
Better on a side table
- Chips, buttery popcorn
- Pizza and anything with sauce
- Chocolate that melts in your hand
- Open glasses next to the boards
Drinks
Cups with lids, or a separate drinks corner. A pot of tea suits the mood. Bubbly is optional, and there should always be something alcohol-free.
Music
Vision board party playlist ideas
Something upbeat while people arrive, calm music with few lyrics while everyone cuts and glues, and sing-along songs when you share your boards at the end.
| When | Mood | Search for |
|---|---|---|
| Arriving | warm, upbeat | “feel good”, “new beginnings” |
| Making | calm, few lyrics | “lo-fi”, “acoustic focus” |
| Sharing | celebratory | “empowering”, “sing along” |
Ask each friend for one song that sums up her year. The playlist almost builds itself.
Dress code
What to wear to a vision board party
Something comfy you can sit in for three hours and don't mind getting glue on. Leave white and wide sleeves at home.
Comfy
Soft pants, a cardigan, socks you like. You'll probably end up on the floor.
Your color for 2027
A fun dress code: everyone wears the color that feels like their year.

For a cozy night in, the easiest dress code there is.

For hosts: print "This Year I Will" for every guest
A blank poster board can feel huge. This free template gives each guest a few areas to fill: people to spend more time with, habits to build, things to learn. It also gets you talking when you share your boards at the end.

The evening
How the evening goes
Arrive and snack, a quick round where everyone says what they're hoping for, an hour or two of making, then everyone shows their board.
For the sharing round, go through the "This Year I Will" areas together: who do you want to see more of, which habit are you starting, what do you want to learn? That's easier to answer than "So, what are your goals?"
Not hosting?
How to find a vision board party near you
You don't have to host. Libraries, community centers, gyms and yoga studios often run vision board nights in January, and some are free.
- Ask at your gym, yoga or Pilates studio
- Check your public library and community or recreation center
- Search Eventbrite or Meetup for "vision board party" or "vision board workshop"
- Coworking spaces, churches and women's networks
A fair ticket usually covers supplies and snacks. Before you book, ask what's included and how big the group will be.
Good to know
What to be wary of
A vision board helps you notice what you want and keep it in view. Nobody can promise it will make your wishes come true, and nobody should charge you for that promise.
- Guaranteed results ("manifest $10,000 by spring")
- Pricey "activations", coaching or packages sold to you on the night
- Pressure to share personal goals, money worries or health details with the group
- Blame like "If it didn't work, you didn't believe hard enough"
Whether you believe in manifesting or not, the evening should feel good either way.
Pick a date
When to host: New Year, or the next new moon
Most vision board parties happen between Christmas and the end of January. If you like a bit of ritual, pick a new moon. Many traditions see it as a time for fresh starts.

New Year's Eve falls on a waning moon this time, so if you plan by the moon, host a few days later.

What do you do at a vision board party?
You get together, flip through magazines, cut out whatever speaks to you and glue it into your own vision board. At the end, everyone shows their board. Snacks and music fill in the rest.
What should I bring to a vision board party?
Two or three magazines, your own scissors and, if you like, a few printed photos. The host usually covers boards, glue and markers, but it's worth a quick text to check.
How long does a vision board party last?
Plan on three to four hours: about half an hour to arrive, one to two hours of making, and enough time to share.
Can you have a virtual vision board party?
Yes. Everyone makes their board at home, you stay on a video call and hold your boards up to the camera at the end. Or start a shared board in VISIYA and fill it together.
How much does a vision board workshop cost?
It varies a lot. Some libraries and community centers host them for free, while studio workshops often cost $15 to $60. Ask what's included before you pay.
When is the new moon in December 2026 and January 2027?
December 8, 2026 and January 7, 2027 (Eastern Time). The Saturdays after, December 12 or 19 and January 9 or 16, are good party dates.
Will a vision board make my wishes come true?
A vision board doesn't grant wishes. It helps you see more clearly what you want and keeps it in front of you every day. The rest is up to you, one step at a time.
